Fire safety, first aid and personal survival

Course description:

Fire safety:

South West Maritime Academy’s STCW Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting course can be taken either as a stand-alone module or as part of the 5 day STCW Basic Safety Training, helping you prepare to take your first steps into a career at sea.

The course runs over two and a half days, and covers both theory and practical learning.

First air :Elementary First Aid (EFA) course is one of the four basic familiarization courses ,which a prospective seafarer must do before proceeding to the sea. These courses under the STCW Convention (Standards of Training Certification and Watch keeping) are IMO (International Maritime Organization) requirements and cover the basic knowledge about the Safety & Survival at sea.

Personal survival : PST course will demonstrate what an unforgiving workplace the sea can be and how lack of knowledge and understanding has led to so many tragedies in the past. During the course we aim to give you the knowledge that will help you to survive if the worst happens. The course is split into two parts: the theory part is in the morning and there is a wet drill in the afternoon so you can put into practice what you learned earlier.
